If you have checked out loads of websites, you have probably stumbled upon some error message every now and then. An error could take place if the hosting server can't process a request (Error 400), if you have to log in in order to see some content and you have not done so (Error 401), if you are not allowed to access some webpage (Error 403) or if a link leads to a file which isn't on the server (Error 404). Getting this type of messages may often be irritating since the pages have nothing in common with the actual site. That’s why some web hosting providers allow you to apply your own error pages that'll match the style of your own Internet site and which can have any content that you want - information why the error has occurred, a suggestion what you can do or even some humorous remark. Such a function shall help you keep the visitor on the site whatever the error and the reason for it.
Custom Error Pages in Cloud Hosting
When you acquire a cloud service from us, you shall be able to set custom made error pages for your websites fast and easy, because this function is part of all our solutions. The moment you've created the files and uploaded them to your web hosting account, you can go to the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia CP and click on the Edit button for the specific domain or subdomain. Inside the pop-up which will show up, you'll see drop-down menus for all four types of errors and for each one of them you can select an Apache default page, a generic page from our system or a tailor-made page. In case you choose the third option, you should only enter the URL to the file which you have uploaded and save the change. Another way to set custom made error pages is to create an .htaccess file inside the domain or subdomain folder and to include several lines of code in it. In case you don't have preceding experience or if you're just uncertain how to do this, you may simply copy/paste the code from our Knowledge Base article on that matter.
